Over The Horizon Radar System

The OTH detecting and service system integrates detection of hydrometeorological elements and quantitative evaluation of radar detection. It detects sea surface water temperature, air temperature, humidity, wind speed & direction and pressure, and performs diagnostic analysis and short-time prediction of sea surface evaporation duct, computational analysis of radar wave propagation loss and sea surface target detecting performance evaluation of radar.The system can enlarge the detecting range of ship-borne radar from 40km to more than 100km.

• Modular design is adopted, which improves general reliability of the system and reduces the difficulties and costs of maintenance.
• Redundancy design is considered in the modular design, providing space for extension.
• With excellent performance, it can detect in real time surrounding air temperature, humidity, pressure, wind direction & speed and sea surface water temperature.
• It uses ultrasonic wind-finding technology to realize fast, accurate and reliable detection in real time.
• The diagnostic analysis mode for evaporation duct is developed independently, and the diagnostic analysis accuracy for evaporation duct height is ≥83%.
• Numerical prediction technology for local atmospheric duct is developed independently, and the accuracy of evaluating sea surface target detection performance is ≥85%.

Over the horizon detection system tracks various marine weather indicators, figures out actual evaporation duct height, and assesses how well radar spots targets on the sea surface. It also backs maritime weather analysis, over-the-horizon radar operation, marine safety patrol and related ocean research work.

This system boosts radar detection reach from 40 kilometers to over 100 kilometers without hardware upgrades. Its self-built models achieve high accuracy in duct judgment and radar capability evaluation. Meteorological monitoring and radar analysis merge into one system, cutting data delay and conversion trouble. Redundant modular structure keeps steady running amid harsh ocean conditions. Mechanical-free ultrasonic wind sensors resist salt corrosion and vibration for stable offshore use.
